Through TeamWorc Action, you can get involved in a wide range of volunteering projects at the SU, University, and in the local community. Volunteering is a great way for you to gain real life experiences, build your confidence, and develop your skills.

Who can volunteer?

All students are more than welcome to get involved with one of the many charities and organisations we work with. Even if you are based at one of our local partner colleges or at our Dudley campus, you may find a volunteering opportunity that suits you.

Are you volunteering?

If you aren’t sure if what you are already doing is volunteering, here at Worcester Students’ Union we define volunteering as the following: “An unpaid activity that involves spending time doing something that aims to benefit the environment, the local community or someone (individuals or groups) through a charity or third sector organisation.” We do not consider an activity as volunteering if the placement is a requirement of your course, or if it is for a for-profit organisation as this is considered an unpaid internship. Please also be aware that any down-time you have whilst volunteering, such as time spent sleeping, cannot be used on the V-Record (especially relevant to volunteering like Scout/Guide camps or residential trips).

V-Record

The V-Record is a volunteering recognition system - it allows us to reward you for the fantastic work that you do for the SU, University, Partner College and community. It is easy to record all the volunteering hours you undertake each academic year. All you need to do is fill in the online record and your hours are stored safely on our system.

The Students' Union offers recognition certificates at five stages for any student completing the V-Record:

  • 20 hour award Recognition of Volunteering
  • 50 hour award Achievement in Volunteering
  • 100 hour award Distinction in Volunteering
  • 200 hour award Excellence in Volunteering
  • 500 hour award Exceptional Attainment in Volunteering
